ARBORIST REPORTS
Expert reporting to support safety, compliance, and sustainable tree care
Trees play a vital role in both the urban and natural landscape, but they require proactive management to stay safe, healthy, and compliant. Whether you’re planning a development, resolving a tree dispute, or assessing risk on-site, Rennie Bros provides qualified arborist services to help you make informed decisions.
Our team includes AQF Level 5 Arborists, with experience across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. We work closely with councils, builders, insurance providers, and private landowners to provide accurate, objective, and compliant arborist documentation.
TYPES OF REPORTS
WE PROVIDE
Pre-Purchase Property Arborist Assessments
Before committing to a property, it’s important to understand any tree-related constraints that may affect development, compliance, or ongoing maintenance.
Our Pre-Purchase Assessments involve a site inspection where we evaluate tree species, condition, and placement. We’ll discuss potential development restrictions, required management works, and council considerations—helping you make informed decisions with confidence.
Development Application (DA) Reports
Most councils require trees to be assessed during the early design phase of a development. We assist with the full reporting process, including:
Preliminary Arboricultural Assessments
Identifies species, condition, retention value, and relevant design impacts—used to guide architects and planners.Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA)
Evaluates the proposed development’s impact on trees and outlines whether trees can be retained, require removal, or need protection measures. We also recommend tree-sensitive construction methods where applicable
All reporting is prepared in accordance with AS 4970-2009: Protection of Trees on Development Sites.
Project Arborist Supervision & Certification
Once a DA is approved, councils often require a Project Arborist to oversee and certify all works within Tree Protection Zones (TPZs).
Rennie Bros provides supervision during excavation, construction, and landscaping works around retained trees, and submits formal compliance documentation as required. This ensures protection measures are followed and consent conditions are satisfied.
Tree Risk Assessments
Identifying and addressing tree hazards early can prevent injury, damage, and liability. We offer tree risk assessments for schools, public land, commercial sites, and private properties.
Our services include:
Visual Ground-Based Inspections
To assess structure, health, and signs of decay or instability.Aerial Inspections
Where required, our team can inspect upper canopies and unions directly via EWP or rope access.Formal Risk Assessment Reports
Prepared for submission to councils or property owners, often required as part of tree removal or retention applications. Our director, Stuart, holds ISA TRAQ certification and is a preferred consultant for Sutherland Shire Council and the NSW Department of Education, regularly providing risk reports for schools and public infrastructure.

Expert Witness Reports & Court Submissions
We have extensive experience with the Trees (Disputes Between Neighbours) Act 2006 and can provide expert reports for legal matters, including submissions to the NSW Land and Environment Court.
Our Level 5 Arborists can also attend as Expert Witnesses, offering impartial advice to assist in resolving complex neighbour or boundary disputes.
Tree Pest & Disease Diagnosis
Tree health can be impacted by both biotic (pests, fungi, pathogens) and abiotic (soil conditions, nutrient deficiency, mechanical damage) factors.
Our arborists can:
Diagnose visible symptoms
Identify underlying causes
Develop tailored treatment or management plans
Early diagnosis helps preserve tree health, reduce decline, and extend the life of valuable trees in both residential and commercial settings.
